Thursday Late Night Date Night

A few months back, we purchased some movie tickets off of Groupon to Studio Movie Grill - a place that is seemingly a bar, a movie theatre, and a restaurant all wrapped up into one. We remembered this week that our tickets were due to expire soon so we had a spontaneous Thursday "late night date night". And when I say late...our movie started at 10:20 p.m. and we got home after 12 midnight. We saw Contangion...
We really liked Studio Movie Grill. A perfect date night spot. We will definitely be going back!

After we got our tickets, we turned around and noticed a bar. I was like, "What? A Bar?! Wow". In advance I knew the concept of them serving food at your table, but I didn't know the spot included a mini bar scene. Makes total sense. Very clever folks ; )

Lots of comfy seating....

There are Studio Movie Grill locations in Texas, Georgia and Arizona. They should bring them to many more cities because this concept is an excellent one!

Hallway leading to various movies that are showing....

Because we went on a Thursday night, the theatre wasn't packed so we didn't have anyone sitting next to us. You get a menu to order from {that is very extensive in food options} and you press a button on your table and a waiter comes and takes your order {you can also bring in any drinks that you purchase from the bar}. The food was not only reasonable priced, but was pretty good! Our Groupon promotion included two ticket vouchers for soft drinks. The seats are super comfy and recline. We had a great night out {thank you mom for coming over to stay with Ilah}!

Tonight we are going to our bible study small group and tomorrow consists of a car maintenance appointment {boo!} and a fun night out with the girls {yay}! Hope you all have a great weekend!!

The Friday Five: Our Favorite Non-Edible Wedding
Favors

Today we start a new weekly edition of our blog called The Friday Five, where we'll introduce you to five ideas to inspire you for your wedding.  This week we tackled non-edible favors-- a topic that takes much consideration to find just the right thing!

Although edible favors are typically what we suggest to our brides, we have a few non-edible ones that we love! If you choose to go the non-edible route try to find something unique yet practical that your yourself would enjoy receiving as a small gift. Here are a few options:

1. Personalized Matches, along with a cigar for the men and a scented candle for the ladies.  Or try my favorite (and most cost effective) option: Tie the matches to colorful sparklers for your grand exit!

2. Stemless Wine Glasses. They can double as place cards when you apply chalkboard labels to the glasses and write your guests names on them. For a quirky idea, use the ones with lips and mustaches. Have them set at your guests seat so they can take them to the bar as they fill up. Its fun, and makes for great pictures!

3. Bottle Openers.  Choose a shape that fits your personality and wedding style and neatly tie them to the neck of a bottle of soda. Try Jones Soda which comes in all sorts of fun colors and flavors. You can even personalize the label! They can easily double as place cards as well.

4. Personalized Playing Cards.  Perfect for use in the hotel room or when then family gets together!  Your guests will remember your wedding day each time they pull out that special deck of cards.

5. Charity Gift Certificate.  Try JustGive! A JustGive charity gift certificate is a memorable way to thank people who participated in your wedding by letting them choose their own cause to support. Gift Certificates never expire and can be redeemed to any of the 1 million local and national charities.

Wedding Decor: Autumn Table

Little autumn wedding details for your table decorHow stunning is that gold apple? I envision a whole bunch of these little nuggets, scattered, over a long table covered in a ivory table cloth and lit with tapered candles, preferably ivory. Then guests could take one home as a thank you.
Wouldn't it be perfect for a Big Apple Autumn wedding?Clockwise starting from upper left corner: pheasant feathers, birds, bleached peacock feathersstone apple&pear, vases,, golden appleAnd why not top it off with burlap texture table cloth and dinner plate cafe au lait Dalhias?   (image source: Burlap table runner photo)

Give Me A Natural Bridal Makeup Look

Most of the brides I meet want me to create a look for them that is natural and glowing but with a hint of drama.  But what does a natural makeup look really involve?  It's no secret in the industry that those makeup artists that can achieve beautiful natural glowing makeup looks, whether it be for brides or commercial/advertising clientele are always highly sought-after because this is the look that most clients ask for and really want.

So today I thought I would share with you some of the products I use most often to create those natural bridal looks you all love!

Let's Talk Base...

When I am not airbrushing, I most often use Face Atelier ultra foundations or YABY liquid foundations.  Both are Canadian based companies - so yay for both!  But more importantly than that, they both provide a medium coverage that is buildable when necessary while providing very good longevity.
Got something to hide...

My favourite concealers are Keromask concealer or YABY creamy concealers - both are super creamy but very effective!  To create a natural look every product you use must blend well into each other.  These 2 concealers do that and also kick butt! : )

Make me blush why don't you...

I love to use my Graftobian cream blushes right on the apple of the cheek or my La Femme powder blushes - I also use La Femme blushes when I'm contouring to create a bit of drama on the cheekbones for those ladies who want to glam up the cheekbones a little!

The Eyes have it...

Hands down I most often use my YABY neutral palette or my Ben Nye matte shadows in natural tones.  I  contour and blend until the eyes pop!  I follow this up with 2-3 coats of waterproof mascara in black.

SWAK....

My favourite product to create a natural sexy lip is Face Atelier lip glaze in peach - it's long lasting and gorgeous on just about everyone. It gives a slight hint of colour and just looks super sexy on most women!

Powder me baby....

Ben Nye Banana Visage Poudre gives a gorgeous finish and a beautiful candlelit glow to the skin that is subtle. When I want a more dewy, glowing effect I use my YABY highlighting palette and add highlights to the top of the cheekbone and along the bridge of the nose.

Enjoy your weekend everyone!  See you all soon!www.vlmakeup.comvm@vickimillar.com416 953 5737

Real NYC Engagement Session | Allison + Mark's
Breakfast at Tiffany's Inspired Shoot

Are you ready for something truly fabulous? Carmen Santorelli was the lady behind the lens of Allison and Mark's amazing Breakfast at Tiffany's themed engagement session. The couple craved a chic, Old New York themed shoot that embraced their love for glamour and style - and Carmen certainly did not disappoint. The shoot pulls out all the stops {an adorable couple, amazing fashion, stellar photography, great locations} and then pairs them all with a chic theme that is beyond anything I've ever seen. Enjoy!

We wanted to dress in the iconic outfits of Audrey Hepburn and George Peppard and take some shots around Tiffany's {of course} and the surrounding areas {i.e. stores on 5th Avenue and 57th Street, the Plaza, Central Park South}. We were also hoping to get a shot outside Le Parker Meridien {our venue - 56th between 6th and 7th} to use for our save the dates.
