Wedding Blogs and Wedding Websites

Getting a little bored reading the usual wedding websites? We feel your pain, and we'd like to suggest a novel solution: Make your own! A personal wedding blog or wedding website is a great way to make wedding planning a lot more fun and accessible to the important people in your wedding, like mothers, bridesmaids, and groomsmen. Oh, and your future spouse, too!

There are plenty of free wedding website hosting services online, or you can use a free blog program like Blogger to set up a simple collaborative wedding blog. We like both options, having tried each, though both have different utilities.

A wedding website is great if you're looking to share wedding information with your wedding guests. For example, you can put directions to the ceremony and reception on your wedding website, as well as links to the stores you're registered at. You can share the story of your courtship and pictures of you and your fiance on your wedding web site, and pretty much anything else you want to show people.

A wedding blog, on the other hand, can be a place where you share your wedding ideas (like we do) or a place for you to communicate with your bridesmaids. You can make both a wedding website and a wedding blog that link back to each other so wedding guests and wedding VIPs can keep track of your wedding planning progress.

Connect with other brides-to-be on our awesome wedding forum -- it's free!

Where To Place It

Months ago I bought a large gold picture frame that looks nearly identical to the one below, and it will be used for the same purpose as you see here:

However, I'm still deciding whether or not to showcase the frame on the escort card table at the Reception...

Or next to our wedding programs at the Ceremony...

TBD.

Take a Little Stroll

One little tidbit of advice that I would give as a former bride:
Take a stroll together on your wedding day. In the streets, in a field or wherever you are. Just take time to be together {arms wrapped around each other} and reflect on what will happened/has happened on one of the most important days of your lives.

photo by one love photo found at with this ring

You won't regret {or forget} the time you shared together on your stroll, I promise. The cocktail hour can and will survive without your presence for 15 minutes.

Eye Candy Friday : v4

Another installment of Eye Candy Friday is here {see v1 and v2, and v3 here}

I just love the following photo from Mthree Studio of the bride's bouquet with the ones of her attendants. You can see the entire winter wedding here - love the photos outside with snow falling. {found via Pearls Events}

Guess I'm hooked on snowy wedding images this week (maybe it's because of the latest snowstorm we had on Wednesday?) Here's 2 great shots by Amy Carroll Photography. You can see this couple's entire winter wedding here.

LOVE this photo captured by Josh Lynn Photography. What a creative shot of the couple's silhouette. You can see the couple's entire wedding here.

Virginia is for lovers! Enter to win 40 free
trips.

Itching for your next vacation? To commemorate the 40th anniversary of the "Virginia is for Lovers" slogan, the state of Virginia has launched the 40 Years of Travel Passions Sweepstakes. Starting this week, they'll be offering up 40 free trips over the next 40 weeks.

The 40 trip prizes range from two to seven nights and each trip will focus on Virginia's most popular travel passions such as wine, music, history, adventure and luxury. I'm hoping to win trip #9 - Shopping and Spa Sensations at the Ritz-Carlton but I'd also be happy with trip #35 - Coastal Culinary tour with chocolate, wine and native cuisine along the sea in Virginia Beach.

Good luck!

Picture a Day - Day 58

Yesterday I had to leave my nice and cozy building and head to the scariest part of the University's city campus: The Bursar's office (too bad it wasn't Discworld's Bursar, that would have been awesome!)

This involves three stages:

  1. To find a parking space in among the 500,000 or so students and 100 parking spots (it's amazing the pile you can get of cars).

  2. To not get run over by all the other students and buses (or students on bikes or students that are running late).

  3. To discover the golden falcon before anyone else finds it, steal it back and get out before the giant boulder smashes us to tiny bits.

See I wasn't kidding about the scary boulder:

It was almost a majestic day, with the gorgeous blue sky and slight wind. Too bad the state flag didn't want to cooperate. It shall be thoroughly punished.
All right, the administration building at last. Now to get in and get out with no one looking. Okay so the get in and get out failed miserably as it's nearing the end of the month and every weird student who only works in cash (we may or may not have some mafia influences in Nebraska -- the corn gang) decided to drop by and pay off their bill.

To make it even worse for some reason the Bursar's office decided to keep their cash box two rooms over so every time the rather elderly secretary had to shuffle off to the room to get a penny for change.

But since that's no fun way to end a story. May I present our capitol building which was easily photographed on the walk back to the car. You may know it better as its nom de plume "Penis of the Prairie."

We're kinda naughty in Nebraska.

LA Vendor: Dandelion Ranch

Clover Chadwick and Fawn Fletcher (how cool are their names!) are the ladies at Dandelion Ranch. They seek out the freshest flora daily from local growers and place them in vintage pitchers, wine boxes, soup terrines, and retro ceramic sap buckets. They are committed to the environment and use toxin free floral foam for their centerpieces. I love the organic, yet modern, rustic look of many of their creations. Beautiful. Oh, and their store is located in a barn in Culver City - how cool is that? A barn in the middle of the city...gotta love LA!
