Our Friends Visit From Vegas! Part 1

My girlfriend Vanessa, and her daughter Alina, came and went nearly two weeks ago and I am just now getting around to recapping our time together! There were literally hundreds and hundreds of pictures to view - and swap - and then weed through - and then narrow down the ones that would be posted!

Vanessa and Alina arrived on a Tuesday and they stayed for six days, five nights. We packed a lot into their visit! It was the first time that Vanessa and I had seen eachother since highschool and we weren't only excited to be together after all that time, but we were also excited for our little girls to come face-to-face too!

Thank goodness that I called the airlines earlier in the day to check on Vanessa's flight status because she landed about 40 minutes early! We arrived in time and Ilah was on the look out for her new little friend!.....

After a long flight, and with me having skipped lunch {because I knew that we would probably go out to eat after I picked them up from the airport}, Vanessa and I were both starving and we knew our girls would never turn down a meal....so we headed to the Cheesecake Factory!

Our little ones embraced and were so happy to be together!....

Our girls behaved so well in the restaurant - and got lots of attention and compliments for how good they were : )

{Photos taken on my cell phone; sorry for them being blurry! Little ones are always in motion!}

After a late lunch we headed home - Vanessa semi unpacked {since we were off to Savannah the next day}, the girls played, we relaxed {as much as we could with looking after two little girls}, and once they were off to bed, we enjoyed some finger foods of salami, turkey, parmigiano-romano cheese, bruchetta, grapes and poured ourselves a glass of wine. And as much as we wanted to stay up and watch a movie, we were exhausted and decided to turn in for the night {around 11 p.m.}. We had a great first day together and I was so happy that my girlfriend was finally here!

Up next....our trip to Savannah!!

Love at first sight

There is nothing like a romance to start our Monday morning, and what a romance John and Christina have had. Just like in a fairytale, the couple knew they were meant for each other the minute they locked eyes.

When John and Christina met, sparks flew. A new fate was written for two people working in Collins Street, Melbourne. John tells how he was completely swept off his feet by Christina's warmth, happiness and positive energy, "It was truly love at fist sight."
Six months later, on a warm October afternoon at Elwood Beach lookout, John asked Christina to marry him... she was deleriously happy and even speechless. After that passed, of course she said yes!

They said their vows at St John Catholic Church in Wheelers HIll, Victoria, where 250 of their closest friends and family watched on in excitement.
"Our major highlight of the day was sharing the photo session with Christina's nonna (grandmother), Lucia at the Assisi Aged Care facility in Rosana. Lucia was unable to make the wedding celebration, so we bought the celebration to her - with wonderful food beautiful weather and plenty of laughter."

The couple shared with me what the meaning of marriage is to them: "Marriage is the ultimate opportunity to intimately share our passion for life together. We both love learning, supporting people and making our communities better. Travel, music, adventure, entertainment and business - everything is made more magical by having a special companion with whom you communicate with openly and trust unconditionally."
Such a beautiful way to look at their future together... (sigh).

Wedding Photography

The photo-journalistic (candid) approach to wedding photography is preferred by many brides to the traditional posed shots. Capturing the day's events as they happen helps tell the story of your wedding. Naturally, posed pictures are still enjoyed and requesting that some of the photos be black and white is common.

Day After sessions are one of the latest trends in wedding photography. Gone are the days of 'pre-bridal' sessions and worrying about getting your dress dirty. Brides & grooms can participate in a variety of fun, romantic and sometimes sexy sessions after their actual wedding day. Sessions can be done one week, one month or even one year after the big day. This seems to be more fun and spontaneous and not so stressful.

There are a variety of session types including the "trash the dress" session that has been making national headlines. A typical "trash the dress" session starts out with a bride in her wedding gown and a unique location.

Artfully posed in a beautiful environment with dramatic lighting lends it's style to a high-fashion type of photo. Most of the trash the dress style sessions end with the bride in her gown laying in sand or dirt or even in a pool of water.

The name "Trash the Dress" is sometimes misleading. It is a catchy name for artistic photos taken in unusual places. Whether or not you actually trash your dress is up to you. Most brides do not actually want to ruin their dress. Most of the time a little water doesn't hurt the dress and a little dirt can be dry-cleaned making the dress as good as new.

There are a lot a beautiful locations in the area to have your pictures done; Fort Macon, Tyron Palace, Whitford Plantation, Downtown New Bern, The Aquarium, and the beaches, just to name a few. Don't forget area gardens, country fields and museums.

Whatever your budget, do not skimp on your photography. After your wedding, your pictures and/or video will be your memories. Cut back on something else, if you need to, definitely get a professional photographer. It's well worth it and you will be glad you did!
