Add to myYahoo!Wow...where do I even begin?! Our 2009 wedding season was truly an amazing year! I never imagined that I would have the pleasure to work with such remarkable couples and extremely talented wedding vendors. I honestly could not have asked for a better 2009 season, and can only hope that 2010 is equally as amazing!
To ALL of my 2009 couples - thank you for allowing me to be apart of such an important day in your lives. Each one of you has touched my heart, and has taught me something about love + marriage. I wish each and every one of you a happy, healthy, & successful future!
To the wonderful vendors I've had the privilege of working with - You guys rock! It truly amazes me to see how much talent the wedding industry has in Pittsburgh. Thank you for providing such a high caliber of service - we need more people in the world like you!
To my husband - words cannot even express what your love + support mean to me. Thank you for giving up so many of your weekends to help grow this business. All of this would not be possible without you. I love you, and am so blessed to have you in my life.
As each season passes I learn more and more, and am SO excited for what 2010 + beyond will bring for us! I've got tons of inspiration + new ideas flowing through my head, and can't wait to share them with our 2010 couples. Over the next few weeks, we'll be back to our regular blog posts and will be featuring more of our awesome 2009 wedding photos! Until then, Happy Thanksgiving & let the Holiday season begin!

Add to myYahoo!Last week, I introduced you to Alison O. of Two for Two Cakes. Here's a real wedding she was happy to share with us:
The cake was for a couple who were having a very traditional but fun ceremony. They are young and wanted their cake to represent that, but also to be a little bit elegant. This is why they went with a muted color palette of ivory, pearl, gold and a light terracotta. Surrounding the cake on the table were favors that Alison made for the guests. Each box contained a miniature sized cupcake in one of the four flavors that the cake consisted of: Aunt Chickie's Red Velvet, Bea's Banana, Aunt Jean's Chocolate Chip, and Traditional Wedding Cake with Organic Strawberries.

Add to myYahoo!I was sick.
All weekend.
Not with the flu {got the shots}. Not with a cold.
Just my usual pregnancy sickness.
It was h-o-r-r-i-b-l-e.
Thus, I had a mini breakdown. That was a long time coming. I normally suck it up but this weekend I let lose and let the tears flow. Half a box of kleenex later I was semi fine. I tried to sleep it off most of the weekend but my eyes are still burning from the inconsistant sleep that I've been getting. I'm such a light sleeper. And Ilah likes to remind me that she's still "in there" so every few hours she likes to practice Cirque du Soleil routines in my tummy.
I decided to lay off of my continual Chipotle fix and nourish myself properly this weekend. For lunch on Saturday we had seasoned baked chicken, rice, corn and broccolli and it was yummy. As you can see, the meal was nothing fancy but it was a nice nutricious homemade meal. I had leftovers on Sunday and it hit the spot once again.
The hubby loves my homemade banana bread so I find myself making it often. I usually use a large bread pan but this time around I used two smaller ones so that I could split the mix and make two versions- one with pecans {for my mom} and one without. For both I made a crunchy topping, like I always do, that is oh-so-good!!
When my husband woke up from his mid-afternoon cat nap on Saturday, he had a nice plate of hot, fresh banana bread sliced up waiting for him....
I packaged my mom's bread in wax paper and wrapped it pretty. I'll be seeing her today.
I have a kitchen drawer full of torn out recipes, taken from various magazines, that I've held onto through the years. The banana bread recipe is from Bon Appetit {I modified it just a tad and got the recipe for the crunchy topping elsewhere}. I personally don't like banana bread - which is odd because I like banana's. But I enjoy making the bread for others : )
