Wedding Rings And Upset Mum For Aussie Cricketer

Mitchell Johnson got married secretly to Jessica Bratitch and they honeymooned in the sun in magical Maldives. It should have been a very happy time except that he didn?t tell his mother about it and she?s peeved. She feels and maybe rightly so, that the couple has snubbed her. Especially as he sent her a [...]

Monogram-tastic

I recently stumbled upon the website www.marrymonograms.com which got me thinking about how you can incorporate a monogram into your wedding plan. Monograms can be more than just initials, you can have have a border or special design included.

The first place to start would be with your stationary: save the dates, invitations and subsequent RSVPs, ceremony programs, reception menus, and thank you cards. Many companies will help you design a monogram and you can order whatever you need through them, or for those DIY brides you can have a rubber stamp made and you can use it yourself.

Receptions offer a myriad of additional possibilities. You can put your monogram on your table and place cards, or even create something to use as a napkin ring. Hanging tags can be made to put on guest favors or around a bottle of wine, or - for the couple who really want a special touch - you can personalize an actual bottle of wine! Even dance floors can be dressed up with projection lighting or stick-on decals.

Another outlet for your monogram creativity is in the realm of apparel. You can always have his and hers shirts made for either the bride-/groom-to-be or as newlyweds. Designed can be screen printed or even created with rhinestones. Monograms can also be put on tote bags for gifts to your wedding party or welcome bags in the hotel rooms of out-of-town guests. Marrymonograms.com will also customize a special clutch for the bride or to give as gifts to the bridesmaids.

Now for my very favorite idea. Marrymonograms now offeres customized flowers. That's right, flowers! They can monogram roses, calla lilies, tulips, or rose petals in most colors and ship them overnight directly to you or your floral designer from California. At just $5 per stem they are only $2 or less than roses from most florists. It may be a little overwhelming for an entire bouquet or centerpiece, but it would be a special touch to add one or two in an arrangement. Just think how surprised your guests will be when they notice just a subtle and personal touch.

As with all aspects of your wedding planning, have fun and don't be afraid to get creative!

My Top Bridal Hair Kit Picks for 2011

Beautiful bride Ashleigh showing off her soft flowing curlsWanna know what hair products I can't live without and what products I use more than any others in my hair kit? Come take a sneak peak.

Moroccan Oil Curl Control Cream

For those lucky ladies who have naturally curly hair and want to show off their curls this is your product. This product works very well with curly hair that tends to frizz when it's dried or in humidity. It leaves your hair with soft, natural, non frizzy curls that really last. Simply wash your hair and lightly towel dry then add some of this amazing smelling, incredible acting product all over your hair and let your hair dry naturally OR if you're in a hurry, blow dry with a diffuser. I usually let the hair dry naturally while I put makeup on my client and then finger through the hair after it's dried to give a bit of volume. The Moroccan oil base smells divine but more importantly it just works. Loooooove this one.

Bed Head Foxy Curls - Hi Def Curl Spray

This amazing little bottle works to create bounce and curl for most hair textures. I find it works really well with client's who have a natural wave or light kink to their hair. It's a great setting lotion to use for lasting bouncy curls AND this product smells heavenly! Spray on to damp hair and style. I use it before blow drying with a round brush to get bounce and light curl and find it works great as a base for curls done with a curling iron or flat iron. It's a keeper!

Big Sexy Hair What A Tease - Backcomb in a Bottle

I use this magical little spray before teasing, after teasing and instead of teasing. It adds volume to give height to your hair and it really helps to lessen the amount of teasing required for many updo's which is much easier on your hair and you! It's a small bottle, it's not cheap but boy....does it work! One of my favourite kit picks for sure!

Sebastian Hair Shaper Plus

This has been a staple in my bathroom cabinet for years so it's no surprise it's one of my hairspray kit staples as well. It gives hold, volume and allows you brush right through it to make changes whenever you like. I have 3 hair sprays in my kit at all times and each one has its own purpose - humidity control, extreme hold control and my favourite all timer....Hair Shaper Plus. The product just works on everyone, all the time.

Greg & Michelle Find Love Under The Pines

Greg and Michelle chose the scenic Lantern Bay Park in Dana Point for their May ceremony and reception. They also gave The Wedding DJ some unique music choices for their nuptials.

John Williams' classical "Welcome To Jurassic Park" rang out as the Bridesmaids entered the ceremony. A special acoustic guitar version of the Bridal March was chosen for The Bride. And for the finale, Jason Mraz and Colby Caillat sang "Lucky" as Greg and Michelle made their triumphant exit!

We used a single Renkus Heinz speaker, DJ system and provided a wireless mic for the clergy so the guests could hear music and vows clearly.

For the adjacent reception, a second sound system was in place so music was already playing as guests entered. We introduced the newlyweds to Israel Kamakawiwo'ole's "Somewhere Over The Rainbow".

The Bride and Groom had their First Dance, "I'm Yours- Jason Mraz", Father/Daughter Dance, What A Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong and Mother/Son Dance, "I Will" by The Beatles.

Guests enjoyed a variety of music, mingling and a wonderful meal. After dancing and the traditional cake cutting, Michelle and Greg made their Grand Exit to the "Raiders Of The Lost Ark Theme".

Here's to another great beginning!

The Wedding Car (or not!)

One thing that has never been a necessity to me was a formal wedding car. Flat-out, we didn’t care, not even a smidge. This is just my opinion, and I totally understand that “it looks nice for photos” and that … Continue reading →

BLACK AND WHITE

Never The Inbetween
Thank so much to Tuyet Nguyen over at SMP Style Circle for putting these sharp and awesome images together. From the white anemones to black Venice lace,  I do love the effect of black and white here with various shades of gray moving in.  This would be a great inspiration point for a Deco or old Hollywood style wedding . . .
