Add to myYahoo!Wanwisa, of the soon-to-be-launched Bliss NY, introduced us to the newly engaged Michelle from Texas last week. Welcome back to Part II of Wanwisa Wednesday! Enjoy~
One of my fondest girl-bonding memories is catching Sophia Coppola?s Marie Antoinette with Michelle a couple years ago. We knew the movie, more than anything, would be two plus hours of pure aesthetic heaven ? scene after scene of the most sensational visual design from costumes to the magnificent Hall of Mirrors of Versailles (not to mention a couple shots of gorgeous Parisian pastries and desserts).
Inspired by our outing, I designed Michelle?s second inspiration board to have a very Marie Antoinette ? Cosmopolitan ? Parisian feel. Michelle has Houston?s Petroleum Club in mind as one of her reception venue options and I thought it would be a great location for this theme. The ballroom has a grand feel with large chandeliers and long golden curtains.
Remembering a lovely wedding design by Ceci New York, a dusty pink and gold palette seems a perfect fit. Ceci New York created a ?grand vision of lavish Versailles? using fans as a motif for favor tags as well as escort cards. Golden menus, rolled up and tied in blush satin ribbons were placed on each place setting to match golden rimmed stemware and gold utensils. The wedding cake is perhaps my favorite element in this inspiration board? a classic Macaron Croquembouche designed by Ladurée. (SW Editor-in-Chief Lara's favorite!)
Keeping in mind that Michelle is not a frilly, pink gal, I chose simple and elegant pink and gold stationery from Martha Weddings. Sophisticated gowns from Lazaro for both the bride and wedding party add sophistication and a modern cosmopolitan touch. Delicious! More to come next week~ Wanwisa

photo credit: Sallee Photography I love the vintage, timeless look that sepia photographs exude. They are warm, romantic, and elegant. When a photographer captures a beautiful photo of a bride and groom, and modifies the picture to sepia, the woman looks graceful, and the man looks so debonair.

Yesterday?s post was about wedding prelude music, so naturally, today I?d like to discuss the bride's procession music. (This is the music that?s played the bride walks down the aisle.)
One of the most popular melodies for a bride?s entrance and walk down the aisle is ?Bridal Chorus? from German composer Richard Wagner?s opera Lohengrin. Most of us know the song as ?Here Comes the Bride? or ?The Wedding March.?
I can appreciate the traditional tie that many brides have to this music and it is a clearly decipherable cue for guests that the bride is going to make her grand entrance. I don?t know if it?s because I spent most of my Saturday mornings watching cartoons, but every time I hear the melody I think of the following lyrics:
Here comes the bride, all fat and wide
Look at her wiggle from side to side
Here comes the bride, all fat and wide
Ten pounds of mince meat walking by his side
I know those aren?t the true lyrics and no matter how much I try to stop myself, that is what I repeat in my head when I hear the melody. If any future brides suffer this same predicament, I have compiled a list of 50 alternative songs and melodies that you can play while walking down the aisle. Some are traditional, others not so much. Remember, it?s your day and you get to choose that best represents you and your partner:
1. "Air" (from Water Music Suite), (George F. Handel)
2. "All I Have to Do Is Dream" - The Everly Brothers
3. "Appalachia Waltz" (Yo-Yo Ma, Edgar Meyer, Mark O'Connor)
4. "At Last" (Etta James)
5. "Best of My Love" (The Emotions)
6. "Canon in D" (Johann Pachelbel)
7. "Canzon V" (Giovanni Gabrieli)
8. "Coronation March for Czar Alexander III" (Peter I. Tchaikovsky)
9. "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" - Queen
10. "Flatbush Waltz" (Andy Statman)
11. "Have I Told You Lately" (Van Morrison)
12. "I Can't Stop Loving You" (Ray Charles)
13. "Overture" (from Royal Fireworks Music), (George Frederic Handel)
14. "Procession of Joy" (Hal Hopson)
15. "Promenade" (from Pictures at an Exhibition), (Modest Mussorgsky)
16. "Rigaudon" (Andre Campra)
17. "Romeo and Juliet Love Theme" (Tchaikovsky)
18. "Sinfonia" (from Cantata No. 156), (Johann S. Bach)
19. "Sonatas for Organ, Op. 65, No. 3 (con moto maestoso)," (Felix Mendelssohn)
20. "Spring" (from The Four Seasons), (Antonio Vivaldi)
21. "Sunrise, Sunset" (from Fiddler on the Roof), (Sheldon Harnick & Jerry Bock)
22. "Te Deum" (Marc-Antoine Charpentier)
23. "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" (Roberta Flack)
24. "The Look of Love" (Dionne Warwick/Burt Bacharach)
25. "The Prince of Denmark's March" (Jeremiah Clarke)
26. "The Vow" (Jeremy Lubbock)
27. "To A Wild Rose" (Edward MacDowell)
28. "Toccata" (from L'Orfeo), (Claudio Monteverdi)
29. "Trumpet Tune in A-Major" (David N. Johnson)
30. "Trumpet Tune" (Henry Purcell)
31. "Trumpet Voluntary" (Jeremiah Clarke)
32. "Unchained Melody" - The Righteous Brothers
33. "Wedding Processional" (from The Sound of Music), (Richard Rodgers & Oscar Hammerstein)
34. "When I Fall In Love" (Nat King Cole)
35. "Winter," Largo, (from The Four Seasons), (Antonio Vivaldi)
36. "Wonderful Tonight" - Eric Clapton
37. ?Baby, I love your way? (Big Mountain)
38. ?Come What May? (Nicole Kidman And Ewan McGregor)
39. ?Fly Me to the Moon? (Frank Sinatra)
40. ?I Can't Help Falling In Love? (Elvis Presley)
41. ?In My Life? (The Beatles)
42. ?Let?s Stay Together" (Al Green)
43. ?Someone to Watch Over Me" (Linda Ronstadt)
44. ?Still in Love With You" (Al Green)
45. ?Time in a Bottle? (Jim Croce)
46. ?Unforgettable? (Nat King Cole)
47. ?What a Wonderful World? (Louis Armstrong)
48. ?When A Man Loves A Woman? (Percy Sledge)
49. ?Your Song? (Ewan McGregor or Elton John)
50. The Four Seasons (Handel)
Personally, I?m a fan of ?Canon in D? (probably because I haven't found some idiotic lyrics for it) and ?Your Song,? (mostly the one Ewan McGregor because it's an awesome version and yeah, he's damn hot) with but that?s just me. What do you think?

We are just getting a first look at the wedding pictures from the wedding of NBA star Ray Allen. The Boston Celtic basketball player tied the knot with his longtime girlfriend Shannon Walker Williams over the weekend in Martha's Vineyard. The wedding was held at a private home in Oak Bluffs and included the couple's three children.

I?ve spent most of my life in blue jeans so I have no idea what to look for in a wedding dress. I like the idea of wearing a long, white dress on my wedding day but I?m finding it confusing to know what I?m going to look good in. I?m 5?9? and slender. Can you help?
How lucky can you get? You?re going to hear it again and again?tall women look best in any style (well, just about) whether it be ball gown, A-line or sheath. Some words of caution though: There have been some tall, svelte, otherwise lovely brides of late who went way over Niagara with the frou-frou and piled on drapery. Yes, you certainly can carry around more weight and bulk than most but still need to keep scale and proportion in mind even if you are tall.
GO FOR:
*Sheaths and evening gown silhouettes. They really compliment your body if you?re in shape.
*Two-piece dressing like a floor-length suit or coat and dress combo. It?s original and takes someone like you to really carry it off.
*Shrugs and boleros. You?re one of the lucky few that can wear them.
* A ball gown. Talk about drama! You?ll look like Giselle!
*You can go all out and carry off all those beautiful back details: florals, bows, big and intricate bustles, etc.
*Heavier fabrics like brocade and velvet, you can carry them..
*a wide belt or sash in a contrasting shade or color if you want to appear shorter.
PASS UP
*Bouffant hair-dos and high headpieces. Unless, that is, your groom has the proportions of Wilt Chamberlin.
*Victorian gowns with high necks and long tight sleeves. All that elongation puts you over the top.
*Long panel trains. You?ll come off even thinner.
*Flats or ballerina slippers if your hem is above the floor and your feet are long and narrow. You?ll come off looking like Olive Oil.

Add to myYahoo!Welcome back for Part II! Be sure to check out Kelly's {BLOG} for more of Kelly + Justin's big day.

What was the design inspiration for your wedding? Thebeautiful mountain setting and the surrounding architecture from theEseeola Lodge inspired a refined style. We let our flowers add thecolor to the brown and green palette accented with silver.
Describe your wedding flowers: Ichose lush arrangements of pink peonies, white peonies, coral and pinkroses, pops of yellow and white hydrangea. The Bridesmaids bouquetswere very colorful and featured fiddle-head ferns to incorporatechocolate brown. My bouquet was all pink and white peonies ? myfavorite flower. The men?s boutonnières were pink orchids and greenberries. The table arrangements featured a mixture of high and low andsilver and glass bases.
Describe your wedding cake: Ourwedding cake was a 4 layer cake alternating vanilla bean and lemonlayers. The butter cream icing was to die for and I ate it by thespoonful at the tasting! It was a simple design ? white with swiss dotsat the bottom of each layer and a custom designed monogram on themiddle layer. I chose a large pink peony to top off the cake. ForJustin?s grooms cake I had his favorite bottle of wine re-created.

What was the biggest challenge you had to overcome while planning your wedding? Having two sets of opinions.
What was your most memorable moment about your wedding day? The first dance, Jamie McLean covered ?Two? by Ryan Adams.
Three adjectives that describe the day are: perfect, beautiful, and FUN!
What advice would you give to someone planning their wedding? Don?tfeel overwhelmed, take everything one step at a time, remember that youare planning you wedding and don?t forget about the Marriage side of itand the real meaning behind the day ? two people coming together andcommitting their lives to one another.
What?s next for you as a couple? What are you looking forward to in the future? Weare looking forward to settling in to the married life and buying ahome together. We love adventure and surviving our honeymoon was thefirst step towards a very bright future!
Congratulations, Kelly + Nick!

Add to myYahoo!I have a few more interviews from some of Charlotte's finest vendors so this will be the last week of our Charlotte Brides Want to Know series. I hope these mini-interviews have been helpful to you. I know it's hard to know what vendors to choose especially when there are so many out there. These interviews were just meant to give you a little glimpse into the life of some of my favorites.
Today, I we have an interview with Jessica Dunn from La Bella Hair and Makeup. I met Jessica awhile ago and we instantly clicked. She loves making brides more beautiful on their wedding day. Here is our little interview. If you're looking for a makeup artist please run over and take a look at her site and schedule a consultation.
How long have you been in the wedding industry?
I've been in the wedding industry for many years but full time for 3 years.
How did you get started in this industry?
I have alway done friends hair for proms through high school which naturally led to me going to cosmetology school. After I went to cosmetology school there was still something missing, something I didn't like about just cutting hair. So I met a makeup artist from
What do you love most about the wedding business?
I love working with brides because they are real and this is the most exciting day of their life. I love knowing that when it is all said and done I was apart of that huge day for them and all of the memories every time they look at there pictures.
What are you most excited about these days?
These days I have so much to be excited about I have been so blessed. I moved back closer to my family(don't worry not far), I am expanding my market to Greenville, SC and Columbia, SC and I just feel like this year is a new beginning for me with anything being possible.
Who or what inspires you most?
The 2 people who inspire me the most are my mom and God with out them I wouldn't be where I am today. Through God I know I can do anything and my mom is the one always there telling me that I can do it and anything is possible.
What inspires me is life and people, I love seeing the look on peoples face when they see the final result and I can tell that the confidence was just raised so much just from what I did and they see themselves in a different light. When all I did is bring out the beauty that was hidden inside.
What is your most popular service or product?
I would have to say my most popular service and product is my airbrush. This is my baby right now. I am absolutely sold on this technique of applying makeup especially for brides. This technique is natural, flawless and has great staying power. I have had such good feedback from it and I recommend it to anyone.
What is the last thing you read?
Well, right now I am starting to read the Five Love Languages but I haven't gotten very far. However, I did finish my In Style magazine the other day (I have to keep up with what?s going on)
How do you describe your style?
My style for hair and makeup is pretty natural. I would rather bring out someone?s inner beauty then completely make them into something they are not. However, I do venture out into more crazy style if I need to. As for my style in other areas of my life, I am more contemporary.
If you could vacation anywhere where would it be?
Figi in a little bungalow in the ocean. One of those that have the glass bottom that you can see everything swim under you. That would be amazing.
What food could you not live without?
Ice cream by far. I really don't know what I would do without it. There is not one occasion I can think of that having ice cream wouldn't make since.
If brides only knew this?.when it is all said and done with and the planning is over you will be married to the person you love more than anything. That one day isn't going to compare to the rest of your life together. So don't sweat the small stuff.

Add to myYahoo! The organist is engaged by the planner, and is supposed to be in his place for a half-hour or so before the hour of the ceremony; and while the guests are assembling he discourses music appropriate to the occasion--a rambling, meditative pot-pourri of sweet and sentimental songs being a popular and effective choice. In churches having a vested choir it is possible to secure very beautiful effects in the musical adjuncts, the processional adding greatly to the grace and dignity of the ceremonial.
