Looking drop dead gorgeous on her wedding day is every bride's dream, so here are some cosmetic tips that will help you look your best:
*Wear a blouse that is the same color as your wedding dress (white, ivory, pink, black, etc) to your makeup trial. Makeup looks different depending on the colors a person is wearing, so keep that in mind as you practice getting gussied up for your big day.
*If you normally don't wear false eyelashes, but you want that shot of glam for your wedding day then be aware that they may take some getting used to after the trial. Most women have their trial and then get worried about how their eyes look because they are not used to the false lashes. You may think they are big, but they translate a lot smaller in your photos and really help bring out your eyes.
*In order for airbrushing to work well, your skin should be very well moisturized. A lot of brides tend to dry out their skin in an attempt to clear up any blemishes, but this keeps the foundation from going on smoothly and leaves you with a rough, cakey texture. Start a moisturizing regime well before your wedding day that includes a good moisturizer and be sure to drink lots of water as well. The 8 glasses a day guideline is not only healthy, but it's a miracle worker for your complexion.
*Having your makeup professionally airbrushed helps it last all day and it also helps to keep your face from washing out in photos. This is definitely an area to splurge on for your wedding.
*If you're getting married in the warmer months, consider picking up an Icy Bag to keep your makeup from melting. Icy Bags are cosmetic bags that keep the contents cool inside. Seriously, every Phoenician woman should own one of these herself, bride or not.
*Have your brows waxed two days prior to your wedding day so that any redness or swelling is gone and so that the skin has a little bit of time to settle down and heal before you have your foundation airbrushed on.
*Be mindful of how much alcohol and heavy foods you eat the night before - both can cause you to look a bit puffy and less than your best.
*Definitely have fun with your bridesmaids the night before your wedding - spending that time together is great for girl talk and enjoying the company of your closest friends. But skip the mud masks, facial scrubs, or any other type of slumber party DIY esthetician services. You don't want to wake up on your wedding day to find that your skin reacted in an unpleasant way!
*For DIY makeup tips, check out Ask Me Makeup. Amy has an awesome and comprehensive blog and great video tutorials on YouTube. If you're using a professional makeup artist for your wedding, her tips are great for looking your best at your bridal showers, rehearsal dinner and just in every day life.

Add to myYahoo! If you?re a regular reader of our blog, you know that we like to discuss wedding issues by example: what we like, what?s worked for us, and once in a while, what not to do for your wedding (ever, ever again). We do it because all women have a story to tell, and we believe we learn as much from our own experiences as we do from the advice of our friends, women who?ve been there before. It?s only natural to want to add our own valuable voices to the mix. Fortunately, the highly opinionated women of Here Comes The Guide recently discovered a divine online forum with that goal in mind: Divine Caroline, that is.

Add to myYahoo!Sarah and Gary arrived today from West Virginia. They are well on their way to being Mr & Mrs on Thursday. Their story is very sweet and seems to be the catalyst for most eloping couples these days. See they were scheduled to have a LARGE traditional wedding in July and as the guest list grew and budget exploded they agreed "this is not for us". They called off the wedding and planned to do something a little more private and intimate. By chance, Gary's brother invites them to join him in PR for a week vacation. And so Sarah came up with a "big idea", she would surprise Gary by proposing on the plane (he had already proposed first so is it really a proposal?) and advising him that she had set everything up with a wedding planner (that's me) for them to elope this week! Can you believe her courage! Well, thank goodness he said yes (I was so nervous for her) and so there I was at the airport waiting for them and hoping I would get great big smiles as they were approaching... well thank goodness I did!
Not only are Sarah and Gary adorable, they are so funny, sweet and madly in love! It's so wonderful to see a young couple have it all together, their education (Gary just graduated and Sarah has one more year to go), their careers lined up (social work) and last but certainly most important in life they have found their life partner! I am so thrilled to be the one assisting them through the process of eloping. It's a real honor to be a part of such a pivotal moment in their lives. I wish them all of the love, luck and health life has to offer. And may their marriage last at least 100 years!
Felicidades Sarah & Gary... hoy y para siempre! (Congratulations Sarah & Gary... today and forever!) That translation is for you Sarah!
PS: The shot of them was taken while they were having their lab work done. Never have I laughed so much watching a couple get their blood drawn. If laughter is the key to a happy marriage they will certainly last at least 100! :)

Add to myYahoo! In revisiting my aforementioned wedding knitting project, I realized that such an extensive pattern may not be the best for a not-so-seasoned knitter such as myself. My knitting experience is mostly comprised of long, straight, things. Sure, I've made baby hats, neckwarmers, socks and scarves - but an entire sweater?! Psshh!
The Ribbed Shrug by Pam Allen @ Interweave Press
Therefore, I've researched and found what I think will be a cheap, easy solution: Pam Allen's Ribbed Shrug from Interweave Press. I could only find a small photo of the original magazine release, but I was able to find several other FO's (that's Finished Objects for you non-knitters out there) to share with you.
The beginning of the Ribbed Shrug in a beautiful cream Sport Weight Yarn @ Hedgehog Knits.
A gorgeous rendition of the Ribbed Shrug in maroon and orange-red tweedy yarns @ edda-ruska on Flickr.
It's got a nice simple pattern with very few increases or decreases, no crazy beading like the other sweater, uses a relatively small amount of yarn (aka less $$), and has a nice stylish touch: the ruffles on the sleeves. I love how simple the lines are on this shrug - it will compliment the clean lines of my gown, but also add a nice texture to my outfit.
The very same Ribbed Shrug in a hand-dyed rose Silk/Mohair blend yarn @ mybelle23 on Flickr.
An ivory colored Ribbed Shrug @ westieluvr on Flickr.
I plan to knit this in something a bit more formal, rather than the basic acrylic Patton yarn the pattern calls for: a nice lofty mohair. I ran to my LYS (Local Yarn Shop) on my lunch to pick up 5 skeins of a soft white Sublime Kid Mohair. It's sooooo soft and fluffly, with it's blend of 60% Kid Mohair, 35% Nylon and 5% Cashmere. I think it will add a touch of romance to the ruffles on the sleeve - it should turn out a bit more like the shrug pictured below (the runner up pattern).
A frothy, yummy, concoction of a shrug in Blue Sky Alpacas Brushed Suri yarn.
Pattern and yarn available @ kpixie.
Are there any other knitters with wedding projects out there?
