Purr by Katy Perry Appearance (Photos)

I can't get enough of these close-up images of Katy Perry from her March 11th appearance at the Douglas flagship store in Cologne, Germany for her new fragrance Purr. I'm a big fan of her makeup which is usually a straight glamour look  with a twist - this time being a bright fuchsia lip. Although she is a fan of full coverage foundation, if you enlarge the top pic you can see how flawless her skin is under there. Looks like the Proactiv is working!

She doesn't look as... um, busty as she usually does.

Can I have that desk when you're through using it? I have a purple obsession.

Painting fog

When not trapped in the time swirling vortex of playing Dragon Age 2 or wandering around in a fog I managed to find a bit of time to create a new painting (okay so it was while my husband was playing).

It's been rather strange in that I really like this one but it hasn't caught much attention. I just have no idea what anyone likes anymore.

Well it's up for sale along with all my others because I don't keep anything in the house.

I've actually finished DA:2 and am ruminating on it but expect a long thoughtful(ish) post on it soon.

Like a Fairytale

picture-11

Last night was the final episode of ABC’s The Bachelor, and I found my self in a room full of giddy, emotional young women, who couldn’t take their eyes off of Brad Womack and Emily Maynard. Anonymously, Emily had been the favorite candidate of everyone there, and quite possibly of everyone watching. So when Brad got down on one knee and asked the cute southern girl to marry him, we found ourselves teary-eyed and full of joy for two people that we didn’t even know.

This made me realize that women really do get worked up about love and the things that love brings. This proposal–physically simple but full of wonderful, verbal, complexity–made women feel like they were actually the ones being proposed to. It sounds silly, but the emotion and attachment that viewers witnessed progressing throughout the show between Womack and Maynard made them feel just as much connected.

I think we, as women, hold the reputation for wanting the best, most extravagantly planned proposals. Even though in most cases this wouldn’t be declined, I also believe that simple proposal, full of verbal reminders on how we make him feel and how he can’t picture life any other way, is just as flattering and emotional.

If you watch Brad’s proposal over and over again, you won’t find an absurd amount of over-the-top tools or advantages, (other then the fact that they were in Cape Town :)).

Extravagant or not, a proposal is more of a symbol than an event. Yes, it makes for one of the most remarkable days of your life–but it also marks the symbol of the rest of your life.

How to get the groom involved

First you must decide if your groom wants to get involved. There are many fellows that don?t want to be involved in the whole wedding process. They just want to allow the bride to take care of everything to ensure that it is exactly what she wants. Some guys feel that they just need to show up and look good. ?Tell me when and where and I?ll be there.? These are the types of guys that will let the bride take care of everything and for the most part stay out of way, UNTIL there is something that he definitely wants or doesn?t want.

Second, if you do have a groom that wants to be involved in the process.

What can he do?

I like to say that the grooms can involve themselves in the wedding planning process as little or as much as they want to. They can contribute to the venues and vendors because you do want to know if they like or dislike something. This will really make it easy on you, the bride because you will feel as though you aren?t doing everything on your own.

Most times if you do ask a groom what they want to be involved in they will usually say that they will help with picking a site for the reception and ceremony and maybe even vendors. ?Yes, I like that cake? or ?No I don?t like that DJ?. But as for getting detailed information, I don?t find that a lot of grooms will contribute on this aspect. Details are definitely not always high on their list.

Finally, all you have to do is ask. Usually if you ask, grooms will give their opinion and help.

Happy Planning,
