Weddings were created based off religious beliefs, traditions, and lets not forget the everlasting bond of love. Western cultural weddings of the Christian faith have adapted the tradition of something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue and a copper penny in your shoe. Something old symbolizes the continuation of the bride's family and past. Something new typically is the beautiful gown to symbolize hope for the bride's new life to come. Something borrowed by a happily married couple represents the passing of good fortune for a long happy marriage and lasting support. The copper penny in the brides shoe is for the urge against want, but also financial security. Lastly, something blue, represents love, purity, and fidelity.
