New @ Little Things - Wedding Tees!

When I was a bride (way back in 2003!) I had a destination cruise ship wedding.  I put together little goodie gift bags with tons of favors and supplies for our guests.  One of the items I gave out was personalized wedding tees.  Each tee had the graphic from our wedding invitation with our names [...]

Can You Ever Have Too Much Wang In Your Life

verawangboutique.jpg Today Luxist reported the news that Vera Wang's first lifestyle boutique is set to close after only two years in business. Hawaiian Bridezillas, where you at? Word is that our dearest Vera might be saturating the market, decreasing her brand power by disseminating her design skills everywhere from jewelry to china to stationery to fragrance to Kohl's, for crying out loud. While we like many of these things individually, taken together we begin to wonder just when the woman sleeps, let alone finds time to choose the perfect china pattern for our kitchen hutch. We're just looking out for you, Vera - maybe take a bit of a break so you don't go all unwearable MJ with your next collection?

New Year's resolution #1 - Find the silver lining
in every dark cloud

(above: Jasper Conran for Wedgwood, Platinum; Waterford, Ballet Ribbon,
both available at Bloomingdale's)

With 2008 in full swing, I know many of you have made at least one New Year's
resolution. I, too, have made personal and professional goals for 2008. Top on
my list is to celebrate life! Holidays and milestone dates are not the only reasons
to celebrate, just gathering with friends and family around the table is reason enough
for celebration. That means not only coming up with a menu and cooking a meal but
setting a beautiful table and a easy way to do that is with razzle-dazzle metallics. They
instantly add glamour to your table.

(above: newest collection from Haviland, Allure, satine platinum, Michael C. Fina)

When it comes to formal china, platinum-banded place settings are the most popular.
I know several brides, like myself, who have registered for platinum-banded china.
The reason many couples are picking traditional patterns, such as gold- or platinum-
banded plates is because there are so many ways you can change the look of it.

(above: the dinnerware that I'm registering for, Match Pewter, Convivino)

(l to r: Anne from Perfect Bound registered for Lenox, Westerly Platinum and my girlfriend Stephanie is registered for the Paola Navone collection)

There's no doubt that platinum has proven to be golden in the fine china category.
Initially perceived to be a trend, platinum is here to stay. Part color, part texture,
the heart of the appeal of platinum is the reflective shimmer that gives depth of
character to surfaces and finishes. You can make a regular day special by setting
a table that's glitzy and atmospheric. Cheers to everyday!

Splurge

The poll this week is just for fun. I want to know:
If you could, what did you/would you splurge on for your wedding?

1. Invitations (like the Kristyn & Asbel invitations below) from the Luxe line of Ceci New York that are sure to wow your guests before the wedding day even arrives.

2. An event designer with the fame of Preston Bailey. "Preston Bailey has made a name for himself creating opulent events and floral fantasies for celebrities such as Donald Trump, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Oprah. His flair for the dramatic has made him one of the most sought after event designers in the world." Toast & Tables . In the picture below PB hung thousands of floating candles from the ceiling, lit the room in blue and created arrangements of blue hydrangeas in clear glass vases. Stunning.

3. Being a princess in THE dress from Reem Acra (below), Vera Wang, or Monique Lhuillier:

4. A fabulous photographer like Jasmine Star, Jessica Claire, Stacey Kane,, or Joe Buissink .
I fell in love with Stacey Kane when I found this board (below) about a recent wedding she shot. Photo via The Preppy Wedding blog.5. Something else! A romantic and well-deserved honeymoon, a venue that took your breath away, fireworks, a planner that does it ALL for you, etc. Vote now! Thanks to weddingbees' weddingbee-opoly for the inspiration behind this post
