Now you know I love me some Costco, especially their health and beauty section that rivals most department stores for their high-end products and much lower prices. Next time you’re there pick up some Sebamed, a totally unassuming cult fav for pH balanced skin basics. I prefer their Moisturizing Cream over Cetaphil’s to calm sensitized skin a… Read More...

Add to myYahoo!Let's put aside all our Very Important Opinions about how other people have weddings we don't like. I want to address the other side of this issue: how to deal when YOUR wedding (yes, YOUR incredibly tasteful, personalized, awesome wedding that you worked on for months or even years) goes viral, and then gets shit on by dozens or hundreds or even thousands of strangers.

Add to myYahoo! While You Shop: Placing Your Order
Earlier, we talked about how you don't want to go shopping until you're ready to fall in love with a gown. When you do fall in love, here's what the process looks like (it will vary from store to store, but here's how things work at AniA):
Measurements will be taken: Bridal sizing varies dramatically from designer to designer, so in order to ensure a good fit, we'll need to take your measurements. A consultant will measure your bust, waist, and hip, then share with you a size chart to determine where you fall. Sometimes a length measurement will be necessary for custom hemming - you may be asked to bring in shoes of the approximate height you plan to wear. Most gowns come with standard sizing, so unless you're very lucky, your gown will probably not fit perfectly as ordered - that's where alterations come in. However, it's important that we get it as close as possible. It is always better to err on the side of a gown being to big than too small - be prepared to order up if your bust is larger than your hips or vice versa. Gowns can always be made smaller, but making them bigger can be tricky. And don't be alarmed by the numbers- bridal sizing runs notoriously small. Keep reminding yourself that Marilyn Monroe was a size 14 on these size charts.
Deposits will be placed: In order to purchase a gown, a deposit of half the total is required. The rest of the balance is due when the gown arrives. Be prepared with a card, cash, or a check for this initial deposit.
A swatch will be requested: We'll do our best to get a swatch of the fabric from your gown for you so you can start shopping for shoes and accessories. Same goes for bridesmaids and other party member gowns.
The waiting will begin: On average, bridal gowns take between 4-6 months to arrive, barring rush orders and special circumstances. We'll keep in touch with you and let you know when the gown arrives!
Some celebrating will go on: A champagne toast, a big hug, and a sincere congratulations - choosing your gown is a huge step, and we're excited for every bride! Yay!

Add to myYahoo!Hi Hi,
What day is it?? Lately, the lack of sleep has made it hard to pin point what day of the week it is. I'm kidding (not really). :p
Even with the sleep deprivation, swollen feet and massive headaches, a couple of things are for sure. There is nothing more fulfilling in this world to me than to see my clients get married. Seeing them all dolled up on the big day never seizes to send me into the ugly cry. That's number one- but a close second is their eyes when they walk into their reception... (my fav part). Months of hard work, all the details pulled together, lights on, candles lit. Its an amazing feeling that I can't quite explain. A few weeks ago we had the serious pleasure of taking part in Ashley + Ben's wedding. A couple I met last year and whom I fell in love with immediately. Not only are they ridiculously good looking, they are sweet as pie. I'm sad that the planning is over now and that they are moving on with their lives. :'(, but we will never forget each other or the incredible day we had on July 23rd, 2011 at the Loft Hotel.
This year, I have not only found amazing clients, I also made a few new friends. Two of which literally live a few blocks away from my house. Bartek and Magda are two of a kind. It is really not everyday that you meet people who are down to earth, funny as hell, giving, caring... what other descriptive words can I throw in here?! A power photo couple, these two are so perfect for each other. If I were planning their 2nd wedding, I'd even let them have 'perfect pear' salt and pepper shaker favors. (never, would i ever do that, but you know where I'm going with this) I love them. Take a look at these amazing pictures of Ashley and Ben's big day.
A xo

Add to myYahoo!Rebecca and I are simply beside ourselves waiting to get to see the Daphne Guiness exhibition at FIT. In fact, just this weekend we were planning which of my turbans and which of her Phillip Treacy fascinators we would wear for the occasion. Kidding… sort of. The truth is, we are absolutely fascinated with the [...]

Add to myYahoo! You and your husband's first dance is the first time that your family, friends and guests get to see you all together, other than walking down the aisle. So you want to make sure that the song you dance to has meaning behind it.
I always tell couples to pick a song that means something to the both of you, whether it is the song that was playing on your first date, a song from your first kiss, whatever but just have it be a song that means something. A lot of times, it can be a song that the words have meaning, maybe the words say EXACTLY how you feel about each other or symbolize something that both of you have gone through. No matter how you choose your song just ensure that the song is something that while you two are dancing with each other you can truly feel that this song has meaning.
Check out 20 great first dance songs courtesy of The Knot. They may seem familiar but they all have a little twist to them.
Here are a few of my favorites

Crazy Love by Micheal Buble

Add to myYahoo!Today I am thrilled to share a little romance and sweetness with all of you! Justyna has been a long time friend of mine. To be exact we have been friends for 18 years!! She fell in love with a true gentleman and her soulmate without a doubt! They are one of those couples where one glance at them is enough to determine they are made for each other! I wish them both a lifetime of happiness and love!
In Part One they share with us their memorable and loving story of engagement. Tomorrow I will share with you the process of their invitation design and the final product. And, sometime in October, I will share the wedding details and pictures of I am sure, will be an amazing day!
Proposal story
It was the day of our 5 year anniversary, 11-12-10 and Dave planned a walk in the park where we always hike and ride our bikes. We stopped at the overlook at the top of the valley, it was beautiful, the sun was setting and the fall colors below were just gorgeous in the sunlight. I had a feeling some thing was up, Dave was not acting himself, so I was waiting for possibly 'it', I had a feeling this was it, it had to be, this is the perfect set up! At one point he was kneeling down, (my heart racing) to tie his shoe! I gave up for a second when I heard him say on one knee of course "Justyna, I have a question for you, will you be my wife?" I was shocked and so happy that I ran down the stairs for a second, came back and we embraced each other for a good while. The night ended with a romantic anniversary and engagement dinner, we toasted to our love and happiness, it was the perfect night.
