UP AND COMING: Out of a Jane Austen Novel

Hey all you Pride and Prejudice fans, have I got a surprise for you come spring.  I've earmarked all  the lacy, lightweight, empire cut and flowing silhouettes in the collection for an editorial I know you'll just swoon over called, Out of a  Jane Austen Novel.  I've been wanting to do this shoot for some time and it wasn't till Shandra here walked through my studio doors I knew I had my Emma/Lizzie/ Marianne, the smart and back- boned heroine of any of Austen's early chick lit. What can we borrow from the late Regency Period where Austen set most of her work?  Well, it was the first time in a 500 year history women could really be comfortable and free of intricate corsetry and bustling (thanks Napoleon!). If you're looking for a costume inspired element for your look or wedding theme you won't want to miss this editorial.  We're bringing in some beautiful accessories and flowers for this post to compliment these light as air gowns.

Just Married! Siobham & Stuart

Today we’ve officially opened the wedding season on Villa Bossi in Orta. We show you here the very first images of the event a real scoop!
Siobhan and Stuart were the first couple to get married in Orta. The both come from Scotland as you can also see from groom’s special suit!

A wonderful day in Orta with a mild temperature, almost like summer, pretty unusual for this period considering that Spring has just arrived!
This was the perfect frame for Siobhan and Stuart’s wedding!
As tradition wants Siobhan arrived to Villa Bossi by a rowing boat with her father. The civil ceremony had also a special touch with a wonderful blessing conducted by our celebrants Diane and Giuseppe.
After a pretty walk in the medieval village of Orta bride and groom had a wonderful aperitif in the gardens of Villa Gippini part of San Rocco Hotel, where Siobhan and Stuart also had a delicious dinner with all their guests.

New York City Wedding Photographers | Poignant
Moments

It’s these poignant moments in people’s lives that captivate me as a photographer of their life’s most significant events, such as their weddings. Maybe you think of wedding photography in terms of “snapping” people smiling for a camera, but I don’t. That’s not what I’m looking for. It’s just that on a wedding day, the [...]

Children and Weddings..

The big debate: children and weddings. Some think a wedding wouldn’t have the atmosphere without them, and others couldn’t think of anything worse than having a swarm of children ‘aeroplaning’ all over the dance floor. I think I’m somewhere in … Continue reading →

The gift of learning to use your registry items

(Source: Amy Nixon Events blog)When all the items seem to be checked off a New York couple's registry, what should a wedding guest who doesn't want to just give a check do?

Purchase a "Cooking 101 for Newlyweds" gift certificate.

New York City-based natural food chef and cooking instructor Gilda Muiero provides in-home cooking classes to teach newlyweds how to use their kitchen registry items.

The class costs $350 and is customized to the couple's culinary interest and skill level. It can cover a whole host of things from cooking for two to kitchen basics, including knife skills and keeping a well-stocked pantry.

It was at at a bridal shower in 2008 that Muiero got the idea for the newlyweds class.

"It all started when I was teaching a bridal shower how to cook and the maid of honor confessed that she had a Cuisinart brand new in the box from her wedding two years priod," Muiero said. "I had taught at many bridal showers and it was always the same thing --brides who were caught up in the moment at Williams-Sonoma that would buy things that they had no clue how to use."
