Recently I finished making this for Julie from Canada and I am still in awe about this design! I have to admit I would have never thought of this design by myself partly because I love bold and rich colors. The colors here are chosen by the bride. Light tones with some dramatic brown accents and a very intriguing envelope liner. This is why I love to work with clients on a personal basis, they lead me to new paths, ideas and unique projects! Thanks Julie!

Add to myYahoo!Thank you to Favors By Lisa for sponsoring a wonderful contest this past week - it's now time to announce a winner before launching another one in just a short while. I asked entrants to leave a comment letting me know what they were liking the most from the Favors By Lisa shop?
Thank you to everyone who entered. The winner of $50 Gift Certificate to Favors By Lisa is Tara who wrote: "Hello! My favorite things from Favors by Lisa would have to be the "Sign Me" Apron and the Recipe for Love Wooden Rolling Pin Place Card/ Recipe Card Holders. They would be perfect for my Bridal Shower in which I am incorporating a lot of cooking themes, as that is something that my future husband and I love doing together. Thank you so much for introducing me to this great site!"
Congratulations Tara - I'll be emailing you personally today for your mailing address. Please note: winner(s) have 48 business hours to reply or another winner will be selected.
The new contest launches in just a bit.

Add to myYahoo! How many of you have taken snapshots on your point and shoot camera and forgotten about them and then months later discovered the photos in your camera? I hate to say it but I was one of those people. Imagine my surprise when I found this little camera in the bottom of my purse loaded with pictures that my husband and I had taken several months ago.
These photos are what professional photographers would call "I was here" photos. They are not the photos that win awards, are shown to prospective clients, or displayed on your wall above the fireplace. But they are the photos that you look back on and say "Wow! I'm so glad that I took that photo to remember that place or that person years from now".
So grab your cameras, take lots of photos of your friends, families, and place that you will travel over the next couple of months and be sure to download them! I hope you enjoy these photos from my forgotten shots....
This is wine country in the Russian River area. We take a yearly trip with our friends Dave and Gayle to enjoy great wine, good food, and of course lots of laughter. These photos were taken outside the Mounts Winery tasting room.

We always stop at Unti Winery! And they have a great picnic area with roses and benches to relax on. And Gayle was gracious enough to pose for this photo op.
My Father in Law is a wonderful man and understands you should live life to its fullest! So don't forget to eat dessert!
And enjoy great wine and food with family.

So stop the excuses of not getting your picture taken by friends and families and jump in the photo! You'll thank yourself (and so will your friends) later!

Add to myYahoo!I've definitely been on engagement session love lately! I just love looking at photos of couples in love :) I do have some great weddings lined up for the rest of the week though, but for today, not one, but two engagement sessions by the lovely Sarah Yates. Reader Joycie sent me this first set. I love when I get to see GWS reader's photos! I love the location and the timeless beauty of the photos Sarah captured. From Joycie,
Steve and I wanted to keep things simple. We were interested in taking photos outdoors - some place with trees and greenery. I was born and raised in Los Angeles (the eastside) and Griffith Park has a special place in my heart. My dad would often take me there as a kid, the prep school I attended is basically next door to the west end of the park, and it has many lesser-known Los Angeles landmarks: a bear statue from Germany, the Griffith Observatory, Merry Go Round, LA Zoo, to name a few. You look at the photos and it's hard to believe that's LA, but it's the LA that I know and love.

We didn't want anything too conceptual (although those are definitely beautiful and fun to look at). We just wanted to let our personalities come through. Having played in bands for many years, Steve is at ease in front of a camera/audience. I, on the other hand, get a shy when having my picture taken. Sarah really fostered a comfortable environment and was great at getting us to feel comfortable with different settings/poses, etc. I told Sarah, before our shoot, that making each other laugh is a favorite past time of ours. Sarah was really great in letting us joke around and have our little banter. As a result, we feel like a lot of the best photos were taken when we were just having fun and laughing. I agree! How cute is this photo below?!

Love the tights also! And hard to believe that is LA ... Thanks so much Joycie + Steve for sharing your photos with us! Check back later today for another gorgeous engagement session by Sarah!

Add to myYahoo! This week we're gearing up for the release of our print edition, our launch party in Hotlanta and enjoying the start of Mammoth Week! In case you've been under a rock, Mammoth Men 5 is officially ON and they have invaded the Dirty South.
Up next for Epic Reruns is one of my favorite people in the world, Mr. Jory Cordy. We ran a double-feature of Jory's work a few months back and I still swoon over these weddings! Enjoy, y'all!

We have a special double-header for today's SW of the Week. We will be sharing two gorgeous weddings from the talented Southerner, Jory Cordy.
Part I of our Jory Cordy double-header: Laurel + Derrick From Jory: "I was already booked for the original wedding date when Laurel and Derrick asked me to shoot their wedding. A couple weeks later they called me back to let me know they moved it up a week. She was referred to me by my good friend Robin (Your Perfect Wedding) who created all of the gorgeous flowers, and Laurel (RSVP Dallas) brought all of the details together for the wedding. It was like a super-team of wedding vendors. They were married at The Apartment in the industrial district of Dallas. Cakes by Delicious, catering by TASTE. Entertainment by LITE. Uber thanks to my bro-in-law Steven Taylor for shooting with me. It was an epic night."
The weather on our wedding day was: HOT! A typical sunny August day in Texas.
What was the design inspiration for your wedding? I found this great bolt of black fabric that I fell in love with and even though black is not a traditional wedding color, especially in August but I had to incorporate it.
Favorite design element of your big day: I loved the floral, I think that is always the finishing touch! Derrick loved the lighting. No matter how many times I see it, it always amazes me how much lighting can completely change the look and feel of a room.
Tell us about finding your wedding dress: Of course it was never what I had imagined. I am usually not into lace but this one was so pretty! Since we already had children I didn't want to get married in white so I was looking for ivory or champagne. She brought it to me so I could see the color that another dress I was trying on could come in. I thought it looked interesting and tried it on. You really do know once you put it on.
How did the two of you meet? Tell us your story: We met over 10 years ago! Let's just say it was a winding road that led us to our wedding day but it truly was worth the wait!
Describe the proposal: Very simple. Derrick came home from work one day and just got on one knee and said will you be mine forever and gave me my ring.
A date we went on that we'll always remember: We went to Miami for our first vacation, just the two of us and had a great dinner and evening out at Beds in Southbeach. That was definitely the most fun date!
Describe your wedding flowers: All white! Summer is a hard time because floral selection is so limited this time of year. Although peonies are my favorite, I wanted the flowers to be soft, romantic and look very full. Roses and hydrangeas the next best option and turned out perfect.
Describe your wedding cake: We had really cute two tier mini cakes for our 3rd course. They were really sweet ivory cakes with delicate black trim that looked like lace. I also can't have cake without ice cream so that accompanied the mini cakes.
What was the biggest challenge you had to overcome while planning your wedding Timing. We did the ceremony and reception at the same location so in between the ceremony and dinner there was a pretty detailed turn of the room that had to be very organized, otherwise the cocktail hour would have been very long!
What was your most memorable moment about your wedding day The ceremony vows. When you recite them to your mate they take on a whole new meaning and it was very special and perfectly romantic.
What advice would you give to someone planning their wedding? I should have listened to my own advice more but don't sweat the small stuff because your guests will never know the difference.
Congrats, Laurel + Derrick! Check back shortly for Part II: Daniele and Deena.

Add to myYahoo!I purchased some burp cloths for Ilah from a popular Etsy seller {at 3 for $15} - I can't wait for them to arrive. I loved personally picking out the fabrics and matching them to her little outfits!

This is what the burp cloths look like when they are unfolded:
The cute bows and hats that I also purchased from various Etsy sellers are beginning to arrive by mail. I will post pictures soon!
