Umbrellas and Our Chariot

Following our ceremony, we greeted every guest with a hug, and then we climbed the stairs and walked through the pool house to the lawn where everyone had gathered. There were lots of hoots and hollers as we walked by our family and friends, and I didn?t hesitate dragging my dress through the mud. As we [...]

Do It Yourself Project: Love Blooms Printable
Thank Yous

I designed a little treat for you guys last night while I was trying desperately to keep my mind off of the Yankee's terrible showing last night (don't get me started...). As I'm sure you noticed by some of the things that have been designed on the blog lately, I've ...

When You Wish Upon A Star...

It makes a difference who you are, for sure!

For all of you ladies who have always dreamed about your fairytale wedding the answer to your prayers has arrived! In the past few years Disney has launched www.disneybridal.com. For all of you Cinderellas out there you can now not only find your prince charming, but dress the part as well! As children we all had our favorite Disney princes or heroine. My personal favorite was Ariel from the little Mermaid....although it's safe to say I never thought about wearing a bra made of seashells for my wedding (although my 3 month old is going to be a mermaid for Halloween). I digress...
From Belle to Jasmine, brides everywhere are flying through the Internet on their virtual magic carpets to view this new line. If you think any of this comes cheap....wake up Sleeping Beauty! "Any thing your heart desires" will cost more than a simple wish of your fairy godmother (unless your godmother's wand is a platinum AMEX). The line not only includes bridal gowns, but bridesmaid dresses, engagement rings and various accessories, including several tiaras to make the fantasy complete. By the time you're finished ordering your fairytale wedding wardrobe it could cost more than a trip to Disney World.
While it seems that Disney and Weddings go hand and hand, is there really a market for a wedding based on the land of make believe? I'm sure there are women out there who see this as a dream come true, obviously, I'm not one of them. Although it should be said that the designs are relatively appealing and not all together outrageous. It is not as if they have recreated Belle's yellow gown and simply dyed it white. They are much more tasteful than that.
I'm not one to judge....to each bride her own fairytale...but I can't help but wonder if they come with talking animals who sing and sew?

Mammoth Reruns :: Jory Cordy, Part II

Welcome back for Part II of Jory Cordy's feature!

How about Deena's dress!?  Gorgeous!  From Jory Cordy: "I loved the diversity in cultures between the bride and groom's families. Daniele is from Milan and Deena is from India. It was a really great thing to be a part of." Thank you so much, Jory, for sharing these two glamorous celebrations with us!

Tell us about finding your gorgeous gown! I wanted our wedding to be unique, and not traditional. Therefore, I wanted a formal gown, but not a wedding gown. I began to look at Neiman’s for gowns that were formal enough for our occasion, but not too “Red Carpet/Academy Award”. I searched for months before finding this Monique Lhullier gown. I loved the color because it’s neutral, yet striking. I also loved the details, such as the strapless design, the satin sash encrusted with crystals, and the train. Another point I saw as an “omen” was that the gown fit me perfectly and did not require any alterations! It worked out perfectly!
How did the two of you meet? We met in our apartment complex. I relocated to Texas for a new job, but also hoping to find the “right” person and I met him my very first week in Dallas!
Describe the proposal: It was the weekend after Valentine’s day and we were at Cartier “looking” so that Daniele could get ideas about rings. I saw one that I really liked and he said “If you like it, why don’t we just buy it?” I couldn’t refuse that offer! Later, he officially proposed after dinner.
What attracted me to my husband was: His personality. He is completely honest, witty, ambitious, intelligent, and I really could go on for hours!
What was the biggest challenge you had to overcome while planning your wedding? Working full-time and trying to manage all of the little details without a wedding planner!
Were there any special family traditions you included in the wedding? I am from India and Daniele is from Italy. We tried to infuse both cultures into the music. The band, Inside out Band, was a top 40 showband, and we played Indian “Bhangra” during their breaks.
What was your most memorable moment about your wedding day? My cousin Kim Kalouria, a professional guitarist, joined the band for a few songs and even sang a one or two. It was great for the family to be together and to see him “perform”!
Funniest moment? The justice of the peace kept mispronouncing Daniele’s name—calling him “Daniela”! I actually stopped him during the ceremony to correct him, but he kept saying it wrong!
What advice would you give to someone planning their wedding? Get a wedding planner or a friend/family member to help you!
What's next for you as a couple? We just built a home and are getting ready to move in. We also hope to start a family in the next year!

More Mammoth coming next...

Picture a Day - Day 336

I had plans. Giant, huge, wonderful plans.

I would get the house organized and all of Halloween taken down.

Paintings would be churned out by the barrel-full (paintings come in barrels, right? Like sardines).

I'd at least have enough energy to change my header from Halloween to the old Standard.

But then it happened. The Rhinovirus attacked from out of nowhere and my new friends are these guys:
Day-Quil (well the knock off stuff) to keep me somewhat lucid, Mucinex to package and shove off all the snot and kleenex to dispose of it all.

I'm sick. I hate being sick. Especially with a cold. I feel bad enough I don't want to do too much but it doesn't knock me out as much as the flu does so I wind up trying to do things anyway instead of just sleeping the whole day.

And a puppy going through the pre-teen years isn't helping matters too much either.
She's become Miss Sassy, big time. Talking back just like her father.
For now I'm gonna go curl up on the couch and revel in my "I want to sleep for 20 years" virus.

If anyone invents the shrink ray, I could make a wonderful test subject for your Fantastic Voyage. You just have to kill all the rhinovirus you see on the way there.

Deal?
