Father/Daughter Dance/Montage/Same Day Edit...

We are blessed with 2 of the sweetest, smartest, most appreciative brides this season who happen to be sisters. The "R" sisters (and their wonderful families!) were referred to us by the fab Chad Michael Peters who is designing sister 2 (Amy's) wedding at the Chatham Bars in October.

We're always up for something new and creative, so when Rachel approached us about creating a special surprise tribute for her dad to take place during their father/daughter dance we were thrilled. Rachel's dad had traveled extensively on business when Rachel was a little girl and he often brought her along to share special father/daughter time together. We created a simple photo montage from images Rachel supplied us with from their growing up years, then, during cocktails we edited on a short piece showing the two of them together during the photo shoot right before the wedding; dad walking Rachel down the aisle; and finally handing her off to her about to be husband.

Of course Dad was moved and thrilled as well as surprised by this heartfelt tribute - so we followed up by adding footage we filmed during their dance together and posted that for them to enjoy. If you watch carefully, you can see the many layers in this little clip. http://www.vimeo.com/5425823

Of course we now have the challenge of creating something equally exciting for Amy's wedding this Fall!

The Offending Tie

A better picture of the offending tie above, front and center. Lauren and I went shopping yesterday and bought three more ties. Next week, we will have a tie vlog extravaganza, culminating in a poll or two.

Polls are awesome.

Designer Wedding Dress Thrift Store

Yes, you heard me right. A thrift store with designer wedding dresses. I came across the site and was amazed by 1. the prices of the dresses and 2. the brand names.

The site is Once Wed and they have everything from Vera Wang and Monique Lhullier to David's Bridal.

The site is set-up like a thrift store where people sell their gently used wedding gowns. It is amazing how nice the dresses look and the cost reduction that you get compared to the regular retail prices.

And truthfully I think that if I could change it I would have gone this route because so much is spend on the dress and you only wear it one time and then it sits in a box in the closet.

Would you ever use a site like this?

Happy Planning,

Picture a Day - Day 212

Canker sores.

If you are one of those lucky people to have never suffered through one you can just stop reading righhht now!

I've had to fight off canker sores for as long as I can remember. It was really bad in high school as the changing hormones and stress contributed to a painful mouth every time there was a band concert. (Ever try to play a clarinet with two canker sores? Not fun).

I'd tried all those old folksy remedies, yogurt, gargling with salt, anything to alleviate the pain and get those stupid things gone. (Oh and if you still get some you have to get KANKA, that stuff will numb half the side of your face).

Then the wedding came up and I realized I needed to take some drastic measures or all that stress was going to make me one miserable bride thanks to my mouth. After some serious hunting I found an interesting solution to my problem: toothpaste.Special toothpaste designed for all of us canker sore sufferers. The sad thing is that what makes it so special isn't what's in it but what's left out - SLS to be exact. SLS (or sodium lauryl sulfate) is what causes the foaming reaction you get with toothpastes, it also causes small microscopic tears in your mouth (which considering what I use it for in the lab it makes a lot of sense).

No big deal for a normal person, but if you suffer from canker sores even the tiniest tear could turn into a full blown ulcer. And everytime you brush your teeth you just make it worse.

I've been using this stuff for about a year now and I've only have about 5 or 6 sores, compared to me averaging about 5 or 6 a month without. And those I did have cleared up a lot quicker than ever before.

It is damn expensive (about $7 a tube) and impossible to find (walgreens.com or drugstore.com are the only options I've seen so far) but for me it's worth the price to not have to suffer through eating, talking, or just sitting quietly trying to forget my mouth is in horrific pain.

Damn I sound like an infomercial, but really it's rare I find stuff that I just love and have to have and this is one of them.
