BB Creams (short for blemish balm or beauty balm or beauty base) were first developed for women whose skin was left bruised, raw, and red from lasers and other surgical treatments. These creams were made by doctors to soothe, heal, and protect delicate skin with the added bonus of breakthrough invisible coverage to hid… Read More...

Water Pearl Centrepieces DIY Wedding Wednesday

Happy Wedding Wednesday! I hope you are ready to tackle another project on our DIY Wedding Wednesday!

Today we are working with water pearls to make easy but fun centrepieces for your wedding or pre-wedding parties!

DSC02913

Water pearls are small rubbery balls that expand with water. They come in a variety of colours and can be found at you local craft store or at a local wedding gift/craft shop like In Casa Gifts. There very easy to work with, you simply place them in a container filled with water and allow time for them to expand to a larger size. You can let them expand all the way to a very large pearl or keep an eye on them until they reach the desired size. You want to keep them moist especially if you are planning on making your centrepieces in advanced.

Today we will look at 3 types of centrepiece ideas. One for a fun and funky wedding, another for an elegant affair, and the last for a more simple wedding or event.

Shop Wedding Supplies at Wedding Channel Store
Fun and Funky:

What you will need:
  1. A plate charger and plate. Choose the colours of your choice or wedding/event theme. Or choose a neutral colour
  2. 4 tea light candles (or more/less depending on your style)
  3. Flowered jewels of various sizes, shapes, and colours. These can be found at your local craft store.

Once you have what you need is as simple as figuring out the placement of your objects. I chose to use the small and medium flowers to frame along the plate charger. Then I added the tea lights on top of the plate, filled in the plate with black water pearls, and topped it with my larger and medium sized flowered jewels. You can arrange these items any way you like to get the feel and style that you prefer. I chose to use a gold and silver plate charger and plate with multi-coloured jewels to make the metallic pop.

Simple Elegance:

What you will need:
  1. Large shallow fruit bowl
  2. One large faux flower. Can be any flower you like but make sure it?s over sized (you can also use a few flowers instead, or even the paper chrysanthemums we made last week)
  3. A jewelled brooch. It really doesn?t matter what brooch you choose my suggestion is to buy an inexpensive one if you are planning to give your centrepieces away.

Again, now it is simply about arranging your items. I like the idea of such a large bowl with just a flower and water pearls and some bling to top it off. I chose a large pink daisy. I filled the bowl with my water pearls, placed the daisy in the centre and then added my lizard brooch on top. Above I have shown to ways you can place your brooch that work well with the fact that it?s a lizard. You could also use a smaller brooch that could sit right in the middle and be the centre of your flower. What?s great is there are so many ways you can arrange this centrepiece to make it fit your style and the style of your event. It makes a big statement and it?s so simple to make.

Simple ideas:

A great and simple way to use your water pearls is by just adding them to a clear vase and arranging fresh or faux flowers inside. You can use twigs, feathers, or anything else you would like to stand up right. Also a candle in the middle would work just as well.

Water pearls allow creativity and uniqueness for beautiful centrepieces without taking much time to make and arrange them. So have fun and get creative! Be sure to show us your centrepiece ideas or photos that you have made with water pearls!

Sweet Stowe Elopement

Elopements seem to be coming more and more popular- and this one from Landwehrle Photography is super sweet.  While it's nice to be with friends and family, there is something to be said for the intimacy  of an elopement.

Submitted via Two Bright Lights

Kathleen really knows how to capture the beautiful moments along with Vermont's stunning scenery.
From the bride:

We had only been to Vermont once before and never to Stowe, but we had a really good feeling about it. :) We had such a beautiful day, and we're so grateful to [Kathleen] and everyone else that we met in Stowe that made it so special and wonderful.

Real Weddings: Brittany + Andrew

Brittany and Andrew’s French-inspired wedding was formal, romantic, and incredibly elegant. Since their wedding guests would not be able to join the newlyweds on their Parisian honeymoon, they wanted to bring the feel of Paris to them! Sleek black linens and taper candles were softened with blush and ivory florals by Artistry in Bloom and how cute are the little ...

Grooms and the wedding industrial complex

My future husband, Alex, and I took a day off from work to attend to some wedding-related appointments. And now I know why men often don't want to be included in wedding related appointments, and it's not because they're not interested.

A starry night wedding reception in Mesa, Arizona

Did you know that Arizona is a great place to have a wedding reception? According to the photographers of Amanda and Derrick's wedding, Photography by Verdi, they say it is because it hardly ever rains. Mindi and Rich say "You have to have really bad luck if it rains on your wedding in Arizona." As a result of this, Amanda and Derrick's reception was held under a star lit sky, so magical. Oh, and don't you just love the brides beautiful gown? I love the lace detailing on the sleeves and the succulents in her bouquet are gorgeous too.
