Dog in a wedding

My chi-corgi in formalwear

First, HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Secondly, yes, my chi-corgi, Munch (above), owns a tuxedo. Guitar Fred and are debating whether or not to include him in our ceremony -- either to walk down the aisle with a bridesmaid or to bear our rings. I rarely go anywhere without him (I even take him to my weekly tennis practices) and I would hate to leave him alone at home on our big day.

We adopted this 2-year old cutie from a rescue in May and although he knows a few commands, I don't think we can successfully train him to sit and stay throughout the whole ceremony. When I see that other couples have incorporated their "best friends" in their ceremony (Green Wedding Shoes' 2008 post), I wonder what happens when it's over. Who watches the dog throughout the rest of the night? I can imagine we'll be too busy taking photos, hugging friends and family, and more to worry about my little Munch.

Do people quietly retire their dogs to a crate or back to the bridal suite? Or do they just let their dogs run around the reception? If you're encountering this dilemma or have even resolved it, I'd love to hear from you. Thanks!
